Adam Ummar, aka ‘Univorso’ is
a self-taught visual artist based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He creates psychedelic abstract paintings, digital artwork & other visual merchandise.
Artist Statement
Adam Ummar (b.1996) is a self-taught visual artist born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He explores themes of emotions, psychology, sociology, spirituality, and humanity through traditional and digital abstraction.
Using shape, colour & composition, emotions, ideas, the inner psyche and the collective unconscious are deconstructed and reconstructed through his work.
In 2020, he participated in the National Art Gallery Malaysia’s Young Art Entrepreneur program. He has exhibited his artworks in group exhibitions locally in Malaysia and in the Asia Pacific region including Vietnam, Taiwan, Philippines & South Korea.
He has also provided support as an art fair assistant for The Art People Gallery for the CIMB Hotel Art Fair, Whatz Art Fair, Affordable Art Fair Singapore & Hong Kong.
UNIVORSO?
'Univorso' is the name of the Tumblr blog I had back in 2010 and has since evolved into my artist pseudonym.
The name ‘Univorso’ is inspired by the ancient Latin word 'universus' which means 'combined into one, whole'. It encompasses my artistic, ethical & philosophical worldview.
The Univorso logo features the seven colours associated with the chakras.
The white geometry motif is the 'flower of life' design achieved by equally proportional overlapping circles representing the interconnectedness of life.
